Jr. Horatio Alger Completed By Edward Stratemeyer

Author Horatio Alger Jr. was born in Chelsea, Massachusetts, a coastal New England town, on January 13, 1832. He was the son of Olive Augusta Fenno and Horatio Alger Sr., a Unitarian pastor. On July 18, 1899, he passed away at his sister's house in Natick, Massachusetts. His passing was almost unnoticed. In the Glenwood Cemetery in South Natick, Massachusetts, he is buried in the family plot. American publisher, children's book author, and creator of the Stratemeyer Syndicate Edward L. Stratemeyer. was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, the sixth child and youngest of Henry Julius Stratemeyer and Anna Siegel. In 1890, Stratemeyer relocated to Newark, New Jersey, and started a paper business. He continued to compose articles under aliases while running his business. On March 25, 1891, he wed Magdalena Van Camp, a businessman's daughter from Newark. The pair had two daughters who would eventually lead the Stratemeyer Syndicate: Harriet Stratemeyer Adams (1892–1982) and Edna C. Squier (1895–1974).
