American medievalist historian George Burton Adams was born in Vermont on June 3, 1851, and he passed away on May 26, 1925. From 1888 until 1925, he was a professor at Yale University. He was renowned for his written works as well as his 1908 lecture as president of the American Historical Association, in which he bemoaned the social sciences' intrusion into the study of history.
