R. C. Maclagan, a.k.a. Rachel Harriette Busk was a writer, translator, and folklorist from Britain. She was born into a Scottish-English household in London, England. Maclagan received his education at home and from an early age showed a strong interest in mythology, folklore, and languages. Because of her love of folklore, Maclagan emerged in the late 19th century as one of the leading authorities on British folklore studies. She gathered and recorded a great deal of myths, folklore, and folktales from all across the British Isles, including Scotland, Wales, and Ireland.
