Frances Hodgson Burnett

Frances Hodgson Burnett was an Anglo-American novelist, born on 24 November 1849, in Manchester, England. Her parents were Edwin Hodgson and Eliza Boond, having a well to do family. Unfortunately, her father was died, when she was only three years old. Thus, family's hard struggle began, her mother looked after the family and business. Finally, family moved to US to live with Frances maternal uncle but he did not fulfil his promise. Since, her early childhood, living with her grandmother, she loved reading books and had passion for writing. To support her family she began writing stories. In 1868, her first story was published in Godey's Lady's Book, after that she regularly wrote stories for the book. Her first novel That Loss O' Lorries was published in 1877. Her most famous novel was Little Lord Fauntleroy, genre on children's fiction became best-selling book and established her reputation. She was died in 1924 in New York. Her notable works- The Secret Garden, A Little Princess, Little Lord Fauntleroy, A Fair Barbarian, Esmeralda, Louisiana, A Lady of Quality, The Shuttle, The Lost Prince, The White People etc.
