Throughout his career, Vance gained recognition for his contributions to mystery fiction, particularly in the form of novels and screenplays. His stories, often centered around crime and detective work, captivated audiences with their thrilling plots and complex characters. Vance married Nance Elizabeth Hodges in 1898, and they remained together until his passing in 1933. He died on December 16, 1933, in New York City at the age of 54.
